Ann Burgess (CEO)

CEO and Board of Management and is supported by a small number of paid staff and dedicated volunteers. Our CEO is Ann Burgess, who has many years of experience in managing community organisations, and our board consists of highly respected people from the surrounding areas with experience and a wide range of skills, from financial and legal to business and community service.

Pin Ng (Chairperson)

BA (Hons) Psychology, Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology, MBA

Born in 1948 in Malaysia, Pin travelled to Sydney to further his education in 1969, (Chee) Pin Ng began his professional career as a psychologist working with intellectually disabled people and their families in the Victorian public sector. More recently and before he retired in November 2012 he was a senior policy adviser in an economic development agency of the Victorian Government.

Pin and his wife have lived in Wheelers Hill since 1987 and have two adult children and two granddaughters aged 8 and 4 years. Pin was the president of the Wheelers Hill Secondary College Council and Waverley Meadows Primary School Council for several years and is currently the chair of an owner corporation in Melbourne.

Pin is Board Secretary of CrimCheck, a social enterprise owned by South East Volunteers.

Andrew Freeman (Treasurer)

BCom (Accounting), B.Ed (Secondary)

Andrew is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 20 years experience in Public Practice. He began his professional life as a Secondary School Teacher working in the State School system for nine years before a change in careers saw him pursuing a career as an Accountant in Public Practice. Andrew is one of five Directors of a medium sized Accounting practice and has extensive experience providing taxation and business consulting advice to family owned businesses from a variety of industries including charitable organisations.

Andrew has been involved at the Executive level for a number of local community organisations including the Rowville Lakes Little Athletics Club and the Tally Ho Tennis Club. He grew up in Mount Waverley and this is where he lives today with his wife and two daughters.

Wina Kung

BSocWk, MSocWk, MSocSc

Wina Kung is a qualified social worker with a Bachelor in Social Work and a Masters in Social Work, together with a Masters in Social Science (Human Resources Management & Training). She has been working in not for profit sector for over 20 years across ageing, disability, community development, family, children and youth services.

Wina’s current role is Executive Manager (Positive Ageing) at UnitingCare lifeAssist. As part of the executive team in lifeAssist, Wina oversees the operations of the Positive Ageing Division and as well as provides strategic leadership for the organisation.

lifeAssist Positive Ageing Division, including teams of professional program managers and case managers, delivers a range of services to older people in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Victoria. Wina is involved in a wide range of executive committees, community service networks and regional steering/advisory groups in Victoria. She also presents frequently in forums and national/regional conferences. Wina’s expertise is in not for profit sector, aged care and cultural diversity.

Jill Linklater

RN FACN GAICD, BScN MHA Grad Dip Health& MedLaw

Jill is an experienced health professional and executive and brings particular knowledge and skills in board governance, clinical governance, quality and risk management systems, legislation compliance, policy and advocacy and consumer engagement. She is a registered nurse and a health disability and aged services consultant, and as an certified auditor for ISO 9001 quality management systems and a consultant surveyor, Jill has auditing and surveying experience in a range of health, disability and community standards.

Jill holds several board director positions with not for profit organisations with membership on board quality and safety committees. She advocates for older persons as a member of the Positive Ageing Reference Group for a large metropolitan council and is a consumer representative on the Consumer Advisory Committee of a large public health and hospital service. Jill was awarded the 2001 Centenary Medal by the Australian Government for her services to medicine and the community.

Jayesh Kapitan

BCom (Accounting), Graduate Diploma in Business Systems

Jayesh has over 17 years of local and international experience in providing internal controls, process improvement and risk management solutions, to a range of clients from the corporate, public and not-for-profit sectors. Over the years Jayesh has built his credentials in providing services to the following industries: health, aged-care, transport, regulatory and public sector.

Jayesh has extensive experience providing outsource, co-sourced and project based internal audit services and a wide range of advisory and assurance services to a diverse client base.

Jayesh is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and a professional member of the Institute of Internal Auditors - Australia.

Dean Parker

Dean is an experienced, qualified promoter with a Masters of Marketing. After gaining experience working for a range of companies in diverse roles, including Product and National Marketing Manager, Dean now manages his own marketing company, Four P’s Marketing Solutions.

Dean helps business owners enhance their messages within their websites, social media and through various campaigns. He also completes market research and produces easy to understand marketing plans. Dean likes the diversity and constant challenges of this role.

Over the last few years, Dean has assisted a number of not for profits with their marketing.

Ka-Chi Cheung

Ka-Chi is a corporate lawyer at Norton Rose Fulbright Australia, and has worked in the legal industry for over 10 years. He has a strong background in information technology, and has extensive experience with legal issues arising from technology and its use.

Ka-Chi has worked with a number of not-for-profit organisations in the past on a pro bono basis, including SEV, CrimCheck, Sacred Heart Mission and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Ka-Chi joined the board of CrimCheck Limited as an independent board member in July 2013, and more recently as a member of SEV’s board of management.
